Semester in Detroit Information Session

Semester in Detroit is a new academic program at UM. During Winter 2009, up to 25 students will live on the Wayne State University campus, take classes the UM Detroit Center (including a core urban studies course), and have an internship with a community-service or cultural arts organization. All credits earned in the program will be applicable towards the LSA Urban and Community Studies minor. Questions? Mental Health Awareness Day

Mental Health Awareness Day will seek to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness while promoting healthy and happy lifestyles in all members of the Michigan community. There will be many different activities to emphasize fun and happiness. Our goal is to create a day where issues surrounding mental health can be explored in a safe and fun environment.

LSA Theme Semester Energy Futures: Art in an Hour
Thursday, Oct 2
11am-3pm (anytime between these hours!)
Diag (Haven Hall Posting Wall in the event of inclement weather)
Your mission: to create a work of art on the theme of energy or sustainability using only non-perishable, recyclable materials (e.g. paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal) that will be provided to you. You must construct your artwork on the Diag in an hour or less. Since a Liberal Arts education is all about making connections and putting things together, each team will be given a kit of connective/adhesive materials and an object to be incorporated in their project. Entries will be judged both on aesthetics and how well they address the theme. The top three teams will receive prizes and the entries will be displayed in The Michigan Union.

Study Abroad Fair

The Fall Fair boasts information on 90+ programs and has more than 1,400 student attendants. This Fair is traditionally held in the Michigan Union's Grand Ballroom in September of each year. This Fair caters to students interested in Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer, and Full Academic Year programs.

Alumni Association 30-Minute Mentors

This could be the most important 30 minutes you spend on campus this fall. Talk one-on-one with successful Michigan alumni in a variety of career fields. Mentor spots are available between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and all sessions will be at the Alumni Center, 200 Fletcher St., next to the Michigan League. Refreshments and great advice provided.

LSAT Familiarization Course

This eight-session course has been designed by The Career Center to offer University of Michigan students and alumni/ae an affordable opportunity to jumpstart their preparation for the December 2008 LSAT and beyond. Participants will familiarize themselves with the LSAT by delving into the various sections of the test and by being exposed to an LSAT administration under timed conditions.
