Welcome to My SI Admissions Blog!
Thanks for reading my SI Admissions Blog and your interest in the School of Information at the University of Michigan! I hope this blog will be a helpful resources for anyone that is debating accepting an admissions offer or applying to the MSI program. My goal is to help people gain a glimpse of "a day in the life" of an MSI student at SI. Classes, projects, jobs, friends, and the oh so important aspect of balancing your life while in graduate school. I will also use this blog as an opportunity to answer any hot questions regarding the program, event announcements, and tips/links to help the application/decision making process.
Now a little about myself:
My name is Cassie and I am a first year MSI candidate at the School of Information. I am in the Archives and Records Management (ARM) specialization and have some experience in all of the specializations. I have a BA in History/Philosophy, Politics, and Law from Binghamton University in upstate New York. I focused my studies and completed an honors thesis in U.S. Women's History. Between undergrad and grad school I worked in a law school library. Most of my life has been spent in the Northeast, so I can answer any questions about big moves for graduate school.
During my graduate school application process I applied to a variety of schools. Information schools (like SI), traditional library science programs, and history programs. There are pros and cons of them all and I think I can be a good resource for some of you in this same boat.
Basically, I am here to answer any questions you have about SI. Please feel free to send me an email at cassch@umich.edu. To help make sure my spam filter does not eat your message please try making the subject line "Questions about SI" or something similar.
Good luck and I look forward to speaking with you!
