How far are we from Mars?

During my revision I haven't confused the blog with the chat room. This is more in reference to the fact that on November 4th a simulated mission to Mars 'returned' to Earth. Six astronauts were sealed in a simulation spaceship for a year and a half in order to measure the physical and psychological effects that a future mission to Mars would have. In order for the experience to be as life like as possible (bar the existence of gravity in the simulation) there was even a time delay of 25 minutes between radio questions and answers. As it stands, they all seem to be very healthy.

It is very interesting that humans were able to remain healthy over this simulated mission. This is clearly significant in our hopes for sending astronauts to Mars and this also presents the mission as a high and realistic possibility.

I find it very interesting that the astronauts remained unharmed and healthy in the simulation that went on for a year and a half. This shows us a good sign of actually having this mission in real life. It's shocking when you think about it how long the delay was between the radio questions and answers. Thanks for posting this!
