Apophis, We're In The Clear.

So it was recently announce by the Russians that we were likely to be hit by Apophis in the year 2036, coming up relatively soon. However, NASA has just announce that the chances are few and far between. I for one am very glad that they've released this heads up. As far as the Russian's go, the concern seems appreciated, but a little unwarranted. I'll trust NASA, because even though they screw up, they do many things right. Let's just hope this is one of them.

It doesn't surprise me that NASA disagrees with the cosmonauts. It's too far in the future to say with certainty that Apophis will hit us. As it moves past other planets and asteroids its intended path will be thrown off by gravity.

I agree that it is too far in the future to believe that this asteroid will hit us. After doing the lab exercise this week and modeling the great expanses of space that exist in our solar system it seems very unlikely that an asteroid's path will be right on track to hit Earth.
