Washington State University is searching for a Director for its Language Learning Resource Center. This full-time would be an excellent opportunity for someone with strong foreign language skills, such as Chinese, as well as good computer skills.

Position Summary

Responsible for developing and/or promoting and maintaining technologies and applications relevant to improving the management, instructional effectiveness and delivery-efficiency of DFLC language, culture, film and literature instruction on the WSU campus; Teach courses and provide workshops as needed concerning educational technology and it's application relevant to language learning and teaching.

Responsible for managing instructional,and administrative operations and services within the Language Learning Resource Center (LLRC) including multiple language teaching and learning facilities, instructional materials development facility and a virtual language-learning-services delivery facility.

This work involves close coordination and cooperation with the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures and it's language specific subunits including Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Russian and Latin; this work also involves coordination and cooperation with the University's International Programs and its subunit the Intensive American Language Center (IALC). The LLRC is unique within the University community in it's mission to support second language/culture instruction.

Minimum/Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and three (3) years of
progressively responsible experience in the discipline which has included at least one (1) year of lead experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience exclusive of the lead experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience which demonstrates competency with language learning pedagogy.

Experience with application of instructional technology in foreign
languages teaching and learning.

Demonstrated competence in the use and configuration of a broad range of Office, Server, Web, Database and A/V software applications and operating systems specifically Windows 2000/2003 Server and Active Directory including Internet Information Server and Printer Server services; and knowledge of Apples System X Server and Quicktime Streaming Server.
