CFP: The European Union’s Foreign Policy in Comparative Perspective
Call for Papers for an International Conference and Book Project
"The European Union’s Foreign Policy in Comparative Perspective: What kind of power and what kind of actor?"
This endeavour is initiated and sponsored by the E.On-Ruhrgas Scholarship Programme in Political Science, jointly managed under the auspice of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and the Research Council of Norway. Furthermore, this project’s procedures will be supported by the Research College (Kolleg-Forschergruppe, KFG) "The Transformative Power of Europe," Freie Universität Berlin.
The project consists of two parts: a conference, convening in Berlin in March 2013, and a book (a coherent edited volume) to be published possibly in autumn 2013.
This call is open to researchers – professors and doctoral candidates alike – who are willing and able to commit themselves to the project specified below. Moreover, we would be more than flattered if senior researchers, who have contributed to this field in many of their publications before, would also submit proposals with some overarching topic but still related to this project’s analytical focus. We would indeed appreciate if you would kindly inform other potential contributors about this call for papers.
Please, read the enclosed project outline carefully and take the major elements of its research design seriously. We will be delighted if you decid in favour of submitting a project outline specifying the respective cases (involving the EU, a non-EU state actor as well as an
international organization) as well as the case- in-case you are considering worthwhile investigating. The cases should cover the various issues of the EU’s international security policy or its international economic policy (see Appendix 1 of the enclosed project outline).
Proposals should be about three pages; the deadline for submission is August 15, 2012. The decision on those proposals invited for further elaboration in the framework of this project and contribution to the conference and the book will be announced in late August 2012. The
selected group of scholars will be asked to prepare first drafts for the conference. Final drafts will be due at the end of summer 2013.
Overnight accommodation and travel cost for participants in the conference will of course be covered by the project.

CFP: 20th International Conference of Europeanists
Call for Proposals. 20th International Conference of Europeanists
June 25-27, 2013 • Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The current economic crisis of debt, the euro, and unemployment takes place in a framework of highly dynamic, creative, and destructive processes: globalization, heightened nationalisms, continued migration, shifting cultures, rising inequality, security concerns, climate change, sustainable development, etc. All of these factors transform our definitions of Europe and provide context and foundation for the 20th International Conference of Europeanists, scheduled to take place in Amsterdam from June 25-27, 2013.
Proposals may be submitted between August 15 and October 8, 2012. Full text at http://www.councilforeuropeanstudies.org/meetings-and-conferences/2013-conference
