Summer Study: 2008 Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute - May 23 deadline
The application for all non-funding-related applications to the 2008 Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (23 June - 15 August 2008) in Cambridge, Massachusetts is MAY 23, 2008.
Advanced undergraduate and pre-dissertation graduate students having research interests in Ukrainian Studies are especially encouraged to apply.
For its 38th year, the Harvard Ukrainian Summer Institute (HUSI) is offering eight weeks of intensive accredited university instruction in Ukrainian. The program is part of the Harvard Summer School, and is administered by the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute.
HUSI 2008 will feature beginning, intermediate, and advanced Ukrainian, accredited courses in Ukrainian literature, history, and the sociology of music within broader European and global perspectives, a host of performances, literary readings, and lectures by leading scholars across the humanities and social sciences, and other special events.
All summer students are able to take advantage of Harvard's many research and instructional facilities, including Widener Library, and the largest collection of Ukrainian materials outside of Eastern Europe. In the past, HUSI participants have included undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals from North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The summer program is also a unique cultural exchange at the heart of Harvard's international community in Cambridge. Each year, ten to fifteen students from Ukraine showing exceptional intellectual ability and leadership skills are selected to participate in the program.
