Why should you participate?
1. It is a great chance for you to learn about a different cultures and new things. As the world is becoming connected more closely, we are living in a “global village.” It is important for all of us to have cultural competence. Instead of spending a lot of money to travel abroad, you will have an opportunity to attend various cultural events with your international friends and learn about different cultures and varying perspectives.
2. Show our international students and scholars a different side of the United States. Since many international students and scholars have inaccurate stereotypes about Americans form newspapers or movies, it is time for you to show them a clearer, unbiased picture of American life and culture. Show them American hospitality!
3. An opportunity to develop a life-long cross-cultural friendship. Open your heart, open your mind to this journey, and be ready to make friends with awesome people around the world! How incredible is it to make real friends with people from tens of thousands of miles away or from a country you may never have heard of? This international deep friendship will be an invaluable gift in your life. You also will be instrumental in one’s alleviation of culture shock and help them confront new environments and challenges.
