$11,000 Central Asian Scholarship for Students with Journalism Experience

SRAS's Home and Abroad: Report is a new internship-based scholarship program offering $11,000 to one outstanding student who wants to build writing, research, reporting, and language skills. This scholarship is to be applied to a SRAS program lasting approximately 8 months and based in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The program and internship are designed to require a very intensive writing schedule - one that should prepare a student of journalism well for their chosen profession. Students will report on current events in Central Asia, and the program includes travel to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

Experience in journalistic writing preferred. Previous Russian study is desirable, but not required for eligibility. Applicants must possess native or near-native English skills and strong writing and research skills.
