Job: Telluride House Accepting Applications for Faculty Fellows
Deadline: February 4, 2013
The Telluride House at the University of Michigan is currently accepting applications for our Faculty Fellows for the 2013-2014 academic year. Telluride House not only offers room and board to students, but to faculty as well, accommodating up to three faculty at any time during the course of the regular academic year. Visiting faculty may apply to reside for either or both Fall and Winter term.
At the Telluride House, Faculty Fellows live in suites that can easily accommodate spouses and children. As part of their fellowship, Faculty Fellows are required to give one hour-long academic talk per semester on a subject in their field. In addition, Faculty Fellows are encouraged to involve themselves in the intellectual and collegial life of the House. Past Fellows have enjoyed informal dinner conversations with students, worked on public service projects with housemembers, and implemented interactive initiatives such as workshops, film series, and reading groups.
Telluride House is a merit-based residential scholarship committed to establishing a vibrant community supporting democratic ideals of self-governance, a stimulating intellectual environment, and a commitment to public service. Housemembers (all on room and board scholarship at the House) range from freshman to Ph.D students, and are joined in residence by faculty fellows from several fields. By living with a commitment to our self-governing community, Telluride House strives to foster the moral and intellectual growth of its members. Past winners of the Telluride scholarship include a diverse set of luminaries such as philosopher Francis Fukuyama, postmodern scholar Gayatri Spivak, World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz, and several Nobel prize winners including Steven Weinberg, Linus Pauling, and Richard Feynman.
