Announcement: Essay Contest - Free trip to Azerbaijan

The Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States and the Karabakh Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan announce an essay competition:
"What do I know about Azerbaijan?"

The 10 best entries will win one week trip to Azerbaijan, consisting of cultural exchange, volunteer activities, visiting historical monuments and instructive presentations.

The essay competition is open to students of high schools and colleges located in the United States. Applications are invited to choose any of the following themes for their essay:

-Azerbaijan- a multi-ethnic and multi-confessional nation
-Azerbaijan and the Unites States: 21 years of strong partnership and fruitful cooperation
-Azerbaijan's growing international presence and active foreign policy
-Impact of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on development of Azerbaijani society
-Role of the oil and gas strategy of Azerbaijan in the country's economic and social development.
-Azerbaijan at the crossroads of civilizations
-Traditional music at the heart of Azerbaijani culture.

Essays must be original and written in English
Essays must contain between 1,000 and 2,500 words and typed in Arial 12 font
Essays must be submitted by May 1st, 2013 to essay@azembassy.us and info@karabakhfoundation.org

Every entry must be accompanied by:
Application Form
Short Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Winners will be selected by an expert group based on the content of the essay and the quality of the resource material used. All expenses (visa fees, transportation, accommodation and meals) of winners related to the 7-day trip to Azerbaijan will be covered by the organizers. The trip to Azerbaijan will take place by the end of June or beginning of July 2013.

All essay-writers will receive a letter of acknowledgement from the Embassy of Azerbaijan to the United States and from the Karabakh Foundation. Competition winners will also receive a special certificate from the Ministry of Youth and Sport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
