UMBS Buoy
In the coming year, the University of Michigan Biological Station will be working with the UM Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratories (MHL) to deploy a data collection buoy on Douglas Lake. The buoy will form several, new, long-term datasets for use in environmental research. In addition, the buoy will serve as a test-bed for the deployment of new sensors.
The brochure images below give an overview of the buoy sensors and capabilities. The UM Office of the Vice President for Research and the College of Literature, Science and the Arts also deserve recognition for making this project a reality.

To view the full-size version of the images, right-click and select "View Image", assuming you are in Firefox.

Previously, MHL has constructed the buoys in-house but this buoy will be built by S2 Yachts, based out of Holland, MI. It is a mutually beneficial move because S2 Yachts can cut the production time down from 2 months to 2 weeks.
