Issue: Regions on Map

Need: Labeled regions on the map of Ethiopia. Kay has an AI file, findpage 3.ai, that shows the regions, but I don't know which is which. If you don't have Illustrator, you can open it in Acrobat 7. Maybe just the Acrobat comments on the regions?

Issue: Terms of Service or Other for the Website

Here's an issue for the group: what should the site have in terms of a "Terms of Service" for the users? I don't know what the university would want, given it is hosting this. This is especially difficult as the target audience is not in the state of Michigan and may be unable to understand legalese or be very much scared off by it. Perhaps someone (read as not me) could write up a non-threatening, simplified set of rules for the site that would say things like "act professionally", "don't start a flame war", "understand what the site's contents should and should not be" -- but not in my jargon.

Update: I think we also need to make sure that we've got a solid understanding from the GROCS incubator about what we can expect for server support for the website. I'm sure it's going to be there for this summer, but, as this rolls out, there might come a day that they say it's too much (if it's successful or if it lingers), and we need to at least have a thought of what we're doing on that day.

IP Telephony

Received some information from Linda about IP telephony issues -- perhaps that's something that would be relevant to the website. I can share the article with whomever is interested on the team.

Google Docs

In addition to the write up that Kat already put on Google Docs, I've put up the paragraph that Linda would like us to revise for the GROCS booklet (H/J/K/N all edit) and am putting up the style information up there as well (J/K edit). If you think that you should be seeing one of these docs I've put up, let me know.

Monday Usual Meeting

PLEASE EXCUSE spelling ERRORS;My keyboard is acting
Todays meeting btwn Jonathan, Kat, Nolawi and Heather at our usual spot in Amers. Except not our usual seats. This time we are facing the big yellow wall. Todays discussion consisted of finalizing a majority of the stuff. The website , parametrizeing the photos and text.
The details!!
Johnathan will give Kat a style sheet to make the web design look nicer or pretty :) This will give the site a formalized look and sort of the pre-production look of a website. He will also attempt to use the information and graphics from the website etc to see if text messaging , SMS,MMS and Web browsing capabilites on the phone are possible
The next thing we will be developing is the google documents to help us with editing documents and uploa between our groups to prepare for our final GROCS report which we plan to have it done by May 1st.
Nolawi will ask IRB, when their meetings are , how to get expediated IRB approval , and How to add other co-investgators.
Random Fact#1 Heather has informed us that today is international Public Health Week. so this completes our meeting today. Tune in next week...

LIVE on 03:28:2007 19:00 hours from Amr's

And we meet again this week at Amr's today, we seat in our unusual place , in one of the corners behind the coffee beans and brick column. Sort of enjoying the BRICK + COFFEE aroma. But anyways, in our progression for the WRAP we were discussing our "version 2" or "Beta" design. Todays meeting between Kat, Jonathan and Nolawi thus far discussed is below.

So we were going through the screen drawings and design tools for the accounts tab. Kat has developed the picture tools such as the accounts page which will contain profiles like facebook , inbox, messages, networking, projects and possibly blogs tabs. All are complete and ready to be installed pending on Jonathan :)) Since Heather will create "learning theory" that will be incorporated in the design tools, she has been assigned to develop that section. Nolawi will create web picture tool text for each link for the accounts and other sections.Jonathan will start making a frame work to make the tabs using the picture tools that Kat has thus far created.

Moreover, demonstration of log in demo site about the project (design tool) from the web onto the phones will be done at the end of the semester. At least thats what we are thinking :)) IRB is still in progress,we plan to hopefully submit it in the next couple of weeks. Cross your fingers they make it easy on us. Lastly,we are getting to the point where we are getting the majority of the work work done. Till then tune in next week with us.

Monday Meeting 3-19-07

Being that it was Monday, we had another meeting.

Kat and I met to work on fleshing out the tabs from the last meeting. Andrew helped. We're going to talk about the tabs next. Kat's going to figure out how to draw them, and I'm going to figure out how to program them.

(Liveblogged by Jonathan.)

monday meeting 12 March 2007

We spent much of the meeting in our favorite back corner table at Amer's going through our evaluation sheets from the design review on Friday (thanks everyone!).

First, we discussed the use of the cross in the webpage and whether it was recognizable. We are looking into universal, non-religious symbols.

For incentives, we are considering having the computer generate bi-weekly emails with updates about what has been added to the site to encourage visits. We could also highlight top conrtibuters and thank people for posting. We shall add a resource tab.

We will incorporate tracking evidence of use by the final project, but possibly not by the wrap.

We have tweaked our name again, to be: global studio: blimp bots. No, wait, global studio: health network. We think this will be much clearer on all of our component parts. Oh boy!

Amharic into the site might not happen in time for the wrap, but we are working on it.

I am having so much fun writing this blog.

We are going to follow Chris's advice on developing pilots to serve as a proof of concept. Proofs of concept? Proofs of concepts? Proof of concepts? No one here will tell me which is the proper way to pluralize this term.

Community policing - if three users flag something, it's automatically sequestered and the post-er will be notified. Brochures with one and two warnings will be pictured topped with dunce caps. This is how it will be self-perpetuating.

The wrap: For the phones, send one sequence of screen shots from computer to phone. For the site, a framework.

Oh wow, an hour is almost up.
