When the heroes of old are no more, the world is in Chaos. But can the return of Superman lead to a better land for all, or set forth a chain of events that will lead to the destruction of the very thing that it means to be a super hero. In another world, in another time, heroes will fight, heroes will die, and one man must watch and make the ultimate choice.

Detective Denny Colt goes out on a beat one night and ends up shot dead, or so the underworld thinks. Thanks to the experimentation of one of the villains of his city, Dr. Cobra, he returns to become the thought undead hero, The Spirit. Donning a blue domino mask to match his suit and hat, Denny fights the underworld crime boss the Octopus, an unseen face of evil that has his tentacles gripped around the throat of Central City.
