I'm not finished with the Mirror Mirror project in any way shape or form. I hope to work more on it and complete it someday. Maybe revisit the work I've already done in hopes to make it better.

Ideas not used!

V the Vigilante: V would be part of Victoria City and in a constant battle against the criminal boss that is actually the mayor, Adam Susan. He would spout v words that seemed comical and be a hero of the people, respected by them and feared by evil. Style would be Jack Kirby in art and Stan Lee in writing, old and humorous but also very in depth and thought provoking. Way too much dialogue.

Watchmen (The manga): Set in japan the watchmen will become a parody of the American heroes they themselves parody but to a larger extent as the japanese seemed to enjoy this practice. Plays off stereotypical manga heroes and a plot out of a godzilla movie. VERY anime style (large eyes small mouths no nose) and the writing would be very straight forward.

Bone (EXTREME !!!!!!!!!!): This idea had people wanting to slap me in the face, which I find funny. Bone would be a muscle bound super hero toting giant sized weaponry with a very disproportionate body. Rose would be nothing but eye candy instead of the strong willed character you love. They would fight the rat creatures in an endless battle of bloodshed and violence. Very little dialogue, a whole mess of onomatopoeia. Art based off the terrible style of Rob Leifield. Guys is terrible.

That is the primary list of work I want to complete for the Mirror Mirror Project, but there can always be more done. Thank you for the class and time had, it was a blast and I thoroughly enjoyed your instruction and my exploration into the world of Limited Fork. Happy Holidays to you and I hope to see you around.

"I am the Jester of life. The world, my stage. Get ready to laugh"

- Me, seriously I say it a lot in context to other things

So for the second five page comic I wanted to make I chose my favorite comic of the 21st century Brian Lee O'Malley's, Scott Pilgrim. Scott Pilgrim tells the story of a 20 something year old Canadian slacker that plays bass in the band Sex Bob-ombs. He lives with his gay friend Wallace who owns almost everything in their apartment. At a party he catches the attention of Ramona Flowers, a girl that has been roaming through his dreams. He becomes enamored with her and they start a relationship. Scott then finds out that he has to defeat her seven evil ex-"boyfriends" (one turns out to be a girl) to earn the right to officially become a couple.

The comic adventure is filled with hip pop culture references ranging from everyday Canadian life as a young adult to video games to music. It is a very now comic showing the life of a person you can relate to rather than showing some super being. The exact opposite of a very now comic, a very hip 2000's comic dealing with a main character you can relate to would be the definitive 90's comic. A time where characters were strong, dark, and their main weapon was pure unadulterated violence. The characters in no way connect to the reader, the writing not interesting so much as pure grit.

I chose Frank Miller's, Sin City, as the perfect world to transplant the characters of Scott Pilgrim into. I plan to use high contrasting, noir like images and panels for the comic. The narration of the character will be simple and vulgar. This will be a fun one.

"Again, sorry but I got nothing"

-Me, some time this night...

So I've decided on which to do first in my Mirror Mirror collection. First I'm going to use Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Crisis on Infinite Earths was the beginning of a great era of change to come for the DC universe. !985 it was written and illustrated, the start of something that 23 years later is coming to an end. It introduced new heroes to the DC universe. It killed many old heroes of the DC universe. It changed the universe forever in profound ways.

Here's a list of the things it caused in the DC universe:
1. Killed Super Girl I (Kara Zor El)
2. Killed Flash II (Barry Allen)
2. Made the multi-verse into a single verse, which also changed the other stories that were held in other universes into the Else World title.
3. Introduced a real threat to the DC heroes and universe known as the Anti-Monitor. Eat universes and also went back to the creation of time and space itself, almost interfered with The Power Above All's (DCU God) divine creation.
4. A grocery list of dead heroes
5. Introduced several new heroes such as Doctor Light and Wally West as the Flash (III)
6. One of the only times Heroes and Villains worked side by side for the greater good and against a single foe.

With how influential the story was to the DC universe I've decided to do the five paged story based off of it to be that of a children's story. The story will be changed to match the illustration and writing style of the current and popular DC children's comic known as Tiny Titans.

http://www.artbaltazar.com/tinytitans

The story will be simple and have none of the mature characteristics the story held with it. I will take a tragic and universally changing event and turn it into nothing but a inconsequential childish story. The characters will stay the same, mostly featuring Superman, Anti-Monitor, Psycho Pirate, Super Girl, The Flash II and others, but their character designs will be greatly simplified. I'll get started on this in next class and work on it for some time.

I will update this blog with character sketches and initial page layouts.

Let's get this done, shall we?

Scott Pilgrim

http://www.scottpilgrim.com

Scott Pilgrim is a laid back 20 something hipster living comfortably in Canada. That is until he falls in love with Ramona Flowers. Now to earn the right to date her he has to face her 7 evil ex-boyfriends in one of indy comics greatest combination of pop culture, video games, comics, and indy music ever made.

Kingdom Come

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_Come_(comics)

When the heroes of old are no more, the world is in Chaos. But can the return of Superman lead to a better land for all, or set forth a chain of events that will lead to the destruction of the very thing that it means to be a super hero. In another world, in another time, heroes will fight, heroes will die, and one man must watch and make the ultimate choice.

... Well sadly the last one will have to wait because I have NO idea what it's going to be... So, yeah give me some time and there we go...

EDIT:

SO HEY, figured out the last one and what I'll be doing for each. I'll explain that in greater detail next time. the last one is:

The Spirit

Words by Will Eisner

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spirit

Detective Denny Colt goes out on a beat one night and ends up shot dead, or so the underworld thinks. Thanks to the experimentation of one of the villains of his city, Dr. Cobra, he returns to become the thought undead hero, The Spirit. Donning a blue domino mask to match his suit and hat, Denny fights the underworld crime boss the Octopus, an unseen face of evil that has his tentacles gripped around the throat of Central City.

There ya go!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_for_Vendetta

A story of a vigilante masked terrorist bringing pure chaos to the fascist government of Great Britain in the year 2000. They created him and now he will unmake them, his face that of Guy Fawkes, a man who stood against a corrupt government. People should not be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people.

The Watchmen

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watchmen

After the death of the superhero know as the Comedian, his once fellow Watchmen member Rorschach decides to use his violent detective methods to figure out who killed him. What he stumbles on may be a threat to the world and defame the superheroes he once called friends. Who watches the Watchmen?

http://www.scholastic.com/Bone/

When Bone and his two cousins leave their town (get kicked out actually) they find themselves on an epic journey fraught with laughs, danger, and even a little bit of romance (however one sided it may be).

These are three of the ten that I will choose from to change and become part of the Mirror Mirror Collection. Next set of four to come later.
