North Carolina - Government Research Positions
GOVERNMENT RESEARCH POSITIONS IN EASTERN EUROPEAN, RUSSIAN AND CAUCASUS STUDIES
The 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina is seeking highly qualified applicants for several intelligence analyst positions (GG-0132 series) covering portions of Eastern Europe (primarily Southeastern Europe/Balkans), the former Soviet Union and the Caucasus. These are full-time, 2-year temporary positions at the GG-11 level. The positions may be extended for an additional 2 years and may be made permanent without further competition. Successful candidates will work with other civilian specialists conducting research and writing 20-40 page studies, will work closely with U.S. and possibly foreign military personnel, and must be willing to travel within the United States and abroad in order to conduct research and support military operations. A strong candidate will have a thorough background in the history, politics, and culture of one or more countries in the regions listed. Prior residence in the region of specialization is extremely desirable.
Required qualifications:
-- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and keep a SECRET level security clearance.
-- A Ph.D. in a relevant social science discipline (including history), or qualifying experience as described in the official Vacancy Announcement.
-- Strong reading and listening comprehension in at least one language of Eastern Europe/Eurasia (Albanian, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Croatian, Estonian, Georgian, Hungarian, Kurdish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Serbian, Ukrainian, or another widely-used language local to Eastern Europe/Eurasia). Candidates must attain an acceptable score on the Defense Language Proficiency Test.
-- The ability to conduct solid research and write clearly in English.
These are Civil Service temporary positions at the GG-11 level. The current salary range, with locality pay, is $56,246 to $73,121.
