The 2010 Gulf Research Meeting
Robinson College, University of Cambridge, July 7-10, 2010
Call for Papers
Deadline: December 15, 2009
he Gulf Research Meeting seeks to provide an academic environment to foster Gulf studies and to promote scholarly and academic exchange among scholars working with the Gulf region. The Gulf Research Meeting aims to identify issues of importance to the Gulf region and provide a basis for academic and empirical research into those fields. Particular emphasis is given to encourage young scholars to engage in the debate and take part in research collaboration.
Workshops include:
- Natural Resources, Accountability and Democracy
- Formal and Informal Mechanisms of Political Participation
- The Role of the Private Sector in Promoting Economic and Political Reform
- The GCC Banking and Financial Sector Population, Labor Markets and National Identity
- The Impact of Migration on Gulf Development and Stability
- Developing an Agenda for Security Studies in the Gulf
- The Governance of Higher Education in the Gulf Cooperation Region - The Development of the Media in the Gulf region
- Environmental Policies in the Gulf Region
- EU- GCC Relations Gulf-China Relations
- Islamic politics in the Gulf
Participants outside the UK will receive a travel allowance. Hotel accommodation will also be available at a discounted rate.
