Lecturer in Persian Literature and Culture /Harvard University

The Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations seeks applications for a lecturer in Persian literature and culture for the academic year 2011-2012. The lecturer will teach four courses per year, at least three of which will involve reading Persian texts from a variety of literary genres at the intermediate and advanced level. An additional course, in English, introducing contemporary Iranian society through literature in translation would also be welcomed.

Candidates should have professional expertise in teaching language and content-based courses at advanced levels, as well as a strong academic grounding in both classical and modern Persian literature and culture. A strong doctoral record and native or near-native proficiency in Persian and English are required.

NYU Position Opening

The NYU Faculty of Arts and Science is seeking a talented Program Coordinator for the Hagop Kevorkian Center. This individual will provide administrative support for the department including the following:

-Administer the budget, including grant accounts; prepare annual and interim reports and make projections
-Advise current and prospective graduate candidates on program requirements
-Respond to complex inquiries regarding courses offered, fellowship money, options in degree requirements, obtaining/changing an advisor, etc
-Oversee admissions administrative process and registration activities
-Collaborate with the Director and Associate Director to plan and implement events

Requirements for this position are a bachelors degree and 2 years' relevant experience or equivalent combination. This must include experience with staff supervision, budget administration, special events planning and implementation, and counseling and/or advising experience. Additionally excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills along with familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet (excel), database, and web-based applications (e.g., HTML) are necessary.
