American Institute for Yemeni Studies Fellowship Program for Research on Yemen for U.S. Citizens 2011-2012 Competition

Opportunities for: Research on Yemen.
Eligibility: Proposals are invited from graduate and postgraduate scholars for research projects about Yemen. Collaborative or group projects are eligible for funding. Please note that State Department-funded fellowships have been suspended in Yemen. Since it is unknown how long this situation will last, AIYS is, for this present competition, accepting only fellowship applications for research on Yemen conducted in places other than yemen. We regret that we are not accepting applications for Arabic language study at this time.
General Fellowship Program: There is no restriction as to field or discipline for the research proposal.
Duration: Research projects require a minimum 1 month of study.
Award: Projects are not normally funded above $10,000

-2002-2003, Linda Boxberger, Independent Scholar. Linking Histories: Connections between Hadhramawt (Yemen) and Dhufar (Oman)
-2009-2010, Jonathan Friedlander, University of California-Los Angeles, A Lesson from Central California: Yemeni-American Teens and Education, Careers and Identity
-2011, Nancy Um, SUNY-Binghamton University, Gifts for the Imam: Material Culture, Commerical Exchange and Merchant Tribute in Yemen, 1600-1750
