Short Term Visiting Professor Opportunity in Gabes, Tunisia
SHORT TERM VISITING PROFESSOR OPPORTUNITY IN GABES, TUNISIA
The High Institute of Languages, University of Gabes, Tunisia, seeks an American professor of literature or linguistics to teach a five-day seminar (five hours of lecture per day for five days). The visiting professor will lecture in English to intermediate-level Tunisian university students on topics in American literature, linguistics and/or culture. The lecturer should be a native speaker of English with a PhD related to literature and/or linguistics and should have significant university-level teaching experience. No other language expertise besides English is required. We would like the seminar to be offered before the end of April 2012. The seminar will be given at the University of Gabes.
Gabes is a pleasant small city on the Mediterranean coast of Tunisia.
The US Embassy in Tunis will pay round-trip airfare between the scholar?s home city in the US and Tunisia. The University of Gabes will pay the scholar a lump sum equivalent to $US 2000 in Tunisian dinars for honorarium and expenses. Before leaving Tunisia the scholar can convert remaining dinars to dollars. The cost of accommodations and meals in Gabes, which the scholar will pay from the lump sum, normally will not exceed $US 60/day (a good hotel close to the campus costs about $US 30/night). The University will meet the scholar at the airport in Tunis and provide return transportation to Tunis airport. Interested scholars should contact Dr. Ferid Amri, University of Gabes, via email <ferid9002@yahoo.com>, with a short letter indicating the content of the 25-hour lecture program that you propose, plus a c.v. Feel free to contact Dr. Amry by email if you have any questions.
