This Entry is for all Volunteers - PERC Staff and iPod Squad
This is National Volunteer Week and both Ruti and I would like to thank you all for your volunteer efforts this past year. Whether offering to assist patrons in locating brochures and books, initiating searches, offering iPods or just a kind word, you have enabled us to make the cancer experience a little less stressful for patients and their loved ones. And, for this we are extremely grateful.
We may not say it often enough, but you are appreciated. Thank you all -- we couldn't be as successful without you.

Congratulations to Lindsey
Many of you may know Lindsey Jennings, one of our first iPod squad volunteers at the Cancer Center. Lindsey became a PERC staff volunteer in January. Upon her graduation in May, Lindsey will be leaving for a trip abroad. Her last day at the PERC will be Tuesday, April 21st. Please join me in congratulating Lindsey on her graduation.
Introducing our newest PERC Staff Voluneeers
I am pleased to introduce two new PERC Staff Volunteers, Frank Ducato and Jill Reynolds.
Frank will work Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 5:00 pm beginning Tuesday, April 21. Jill will work Friday afternoons during May. She will be available to fill in for vacations June, July and August. Jill will then return to the Friday afternoon slot beginning in September.
They have been added to the firstname.lastname@example.org email group and they are also listed on the PERC Intranet. If you see them around, take a few minutes to say hello and get acquainted.

In-Patient iPod Retrieval Process
This entry should be read by both iPod Squad and PERC Staff Volunteers.
When making rounds on 8A/8B, please be diligent about visiting with the patients who have an ipod to be retrieved. When you stop at a patient room and they are either not there or the doctor is in the room, please check back periodically to see if the patient (or a relative/friend) is able to assist in locating the iPod.
If you are still not able to retrieve the iPod, please inform the PERC Staff Volunteer -- letting them know why you were not able to pick up the iPod and why.
PERC Staff Volunteers, please ask the iPod Volunteer if they were able to retrieve all iPods that were checked if they do not remember to tell you. Please forward the information regarding any "overdue" ipods to me either by phone or email. We need to communicate more consistently regarding iPods that are not retrieved on the day they are "due".
Also, if the patient wants to keep the same iPod (as opposed to checking out a "fresh" iPod), please complete a new Check-out sheet and have the patient sign once again.
If you have any questions regarding this procedure, please let me know. And, thanks again for all your help.
