Laptop Issues Resolved!
This entry should be read by both Tech Squad and PERC Staff Volunteers.
I am extremely happy to report that the issues with the laptops have been resolved. The laptops no longer display the verbiage regarding counterfeit software. In addition, the laptops no longer shut down after 60 to 90 minutes of use! The laptops must still be rebuilt after each patient's use and we were given two new flashdrive devices for this purpose.
The rebuild process requires one additional step. You will notice that there is a PINK cable that extends from a small Netgear box (this box is connected to the hard drive). This PINK cable should be plugged into the laptop and it fits into a telephone type slot located next to where the flashdrive is inserted.
Prior to turning on the computer and tapping F12, you now need to make sure that both the Flashdrive and the PINK cable are connected to the laptop.
Please let PERC visitors know about the laptop program. Also, if you recognize any returning laptop customers, please inform them that the "shut-down" issue has been resolved.
If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thank you all for your help and perseverance in assisting patients and families with this newest offering.

Cancer Support Community - Yoga
I just wanted to remind you that any patients inquiring about Yoga classes in the local area can be directed to the Cancer Support Community of Greater Ann Arbor, since they offer Yoga classes and we partner with them in various initiatives.
Patients can refer to the bi-monthly newsletter and calendar located on the racks outside the PERC for additional information on times and registration. Information can also be accessed on line at the following site: http://cancersupportannarbor.org/
Please do not hesitate to refer patients to the Cancer Support Community when they inquire about needs that we currently do not provide, such as Yoga. You may also wish to peruse their site when you have some down time in the PERC!
And, as always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or suggestions. I am always glad to hear from you! Thanks for your help!
Cancer Support Community
I want to call your attention to two upcoming programs at the Cancer Support Community (formerly The Wellness Community) that our patrons may be interested in attending.
On Wednesday, February 16, U-M faculty member and physican, Jeffrey Montgomery, MD, will host a talk on prostate cancer. Please click on this link to print a copy for interested patrons: http://cancersupportannarbor.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/prostate.pdf
Then, on Thursday, March 3, U-M Child Life Specialist, Jenifer Gretzema, will host a program that explores adult cancer from a child's perspective. Please refer to the following link for a flier on this presentation: http://cancersupportannarbor.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/nemo_chemo.pdf
I have also posted these fliers on the bulletin board located in the PERC. If you have any questions regarding either program, please let me know.
Thank you for all your help.
