Please click on Login/Register and create an account. Click on “Submit Application Form” to enter your information. Please do not forget to upload your resume as you will not be considered unless your application is complete.

Reminder: Your SI-ASB 2008 Application is due at 5pm, on Monday, January 19, 2009. Applications will not be accepted after this time. Note that there is no benefit to submitting your application early.

In order to complete the application, interested students will need to have their UM ID number, emergency contact information, an updated resume, and five preferred project choices on hand.

SI ASB 2008 participating organizations and project descriptions can be found at http://asb.si.umich.edu/2009. Please read the project descriptions thoroughly before making your final decision.

Note that we have 150 projects for consideration – and almost as many SI students who have indicated interest in the program for 2009. I strongly encourage you to consider all organizations and to select projects from a range of organizations, not just the most high profile ones. This will ensure that you get to participate in projects that are of interest to you.

You will be notified of your project by Friday, January 23, 2009.

OPT-OUT
If you have decided to not participate in SI ASB 2009, please remove yourself from the SIASB2009-Interst listserv at the UM Online Directory at http://directory.umich.edu/ or let me know.

ASB Website Public!

The 2009 SI ASB Website is available for viewing at http://asb.si.umich.edu/2009/

This site provides a complete listing for the 2009 organizations and projects available. Note that the site is still being updated daily, so changes to projects may occur.

SI ASB applications will be made available the morning of Wednesday, January 14. Applications cannot be submitted after 5pm on Monday, January 19. Applications submitted after that time will not be accepted.

Applications will be submitted through an online website. In order to complete the application, interested students will need to have their UM ID number, emergency contact information, an updated resume, and five preferred project choices on hand.

I strongly encourage you to read all the project descriptions carefully and to consider other organizations than just the ones that are very high profile organizations. There are over 150 projects available and they cover a wide range of environments, skills, ability levels, and interests.

A special thanks to the 2009 SI ASB Website Comittee -- Katie McCurdy, Mike Harmala, Li Li, Eunice Shin, and Nik Rozaidi Rashid -- all who contributed a significant amount of time over the fall term and the winter break to get the public site and the Forms Website up and running and who didn't seem to mind my endless stream of emails with requests for changes and updates. Without this group, the ASB program probably would be run from a bulletin board!

If you have questions, please let me know. Kelly

ASB 2009 is off to another record making year!

For SI-ASB 2009, I've created a blog where students can add entries about their experience while on (or after) ASB! If you have thoughts or experiences that you'd like to share or if you just want to let everyone know how excited you are for this year, let us all know!

For 2009, we've already had a record making year. That's not really the point of the program, but I don't think its a bad thing to share with you all the success of this program on all levels: fundraising, service, participating, reputation.

The Fundraising Committee's first event, the ASB Book Drive and Book Sale brought in more books than ever and they almost doubled their revenues from the 2007 Book Sale. They made almost $2000 which is incredible considering that books sold for $1 and $2!

The brand new ASB Service Committee also had a busy December. They hosted an Adopt-A-Family program for students, faculty, and staff to take part in. Three families were supported and the gifts that were donated were overwhelming. We had to take two cars jam-packed to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washtenaw County to deliver the gifts.

Also, organization participation has more than doubled this year!

Over 50 organizations in Washington D.C., Chicago, and New York City have submitted projects for SI-ASB 2009. A wide range of projects for every specialization, interest, and skill level are available. See below for a list of participating organizations.
