The Raoul Wallenberg International Summer Travel Fellowship is for students who take part in a community service project or civic participation anywhere in the world, in the spirit of Raoul Wallenberg’s experience and contributions. Several fellowships will be made for summer 2010, each in the amount of up to $5000 to cover transportation, room and board, and local excursions made in connection with the project. Applications are due by February 22, 2010.

REMINDER: 2010 Jean Monnet Graduate Fellowship Deadline 12/1

Thanks to a grant from the European Commission, the European Union Center and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies are offering students summer grants of $5,000 to work on issues of European integration, broadly defined. Student grantees will conduct research leading to the writing of a paper on a relevant topic of their choosing.

I. Purpose and Eligibility
This note announces an award available to new and continuing students in the Joint Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program. It is being made available under the Vivian A. and James L. Curtis Endowed Scholars fund and carries a value of $1,500. One award will be made. To be eligible for the award, a student must be in good standing and his or her research must focus on minority populations with low income and education, with a preference for research on issues faced by African American males.

Mini courses are located under the numbers SW 790 and SW 799. For detailed information on the specific topic you must click on the relevant section number on the SSW web site. The two currently offered for Winter term are Jews & Social Justice in the United States offered through Judaic Studies, and Community Empowerment - Arts offered through the Residential College. CEW scholarship applications are now available. Click here for more info.

Eligibility Requirements for CEW Scholarships:
•Must be attending the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Flint, Dearborn Campuses) in the academic year of 2010-2011.

•Must have experienced a lapse in education after graduating from high school of at least (a) 48 consecutive months or (b) 48 non-consecutive months –not counting interruptions of less than 8 months.

•Applicants who have received a CEW Scholarship in the past are not eligible.
