Detroit Initiative Fundraiser
Posted: March 16, 2009
As part of the Detroit Initiative series, Psych/Am Cult 319: Empowering Families and Communities is sponsoring a day-of fund raiser tomorrow Tuesday, March 17.
The first leg of the fundraiser is a bake sale that will take place in the atrium and lobby of East Hall and MacGregor Commons in the School of Social Work from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 17.
Zingerman's, partnering with the Detroit Initiative, is generously providing shamrock cookies for sale in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day. There will also be doughnuts for sale (dressed in St. Patty's day colors... and nut free) from Washtenaw Dairy, along with bottled water at all three locations.
At the same time a bucket drive will be taking place in the Diag, and finally, Applebee's is participating in a "Dining to Donate" event. So, you can Come support the efforts of the Detroit Initiative just by grabbing a bite to eat later in the day.
Dine at either the Green Road or Eisenhower Applebee's, and 15% of your proceeds will be donated to the cause. Simply click here to download the flyer and present to your server.
The Detroit Initiative seeks to provide opportunities for students and faculty to engage in education, service, and research in the Detroit area through a focus on community-identified priorities. The proceeds from these events will go toward purchasing supplies for a "Day of Community Service" at our Detroit agencies.
Community partners include:
MOSAIC Youth Theater
New St. Paul Tabernacle Head Start Agency
Latino Family Services
Peoples Community Services of Metropolitan Detroit
Delray United Action Council
