Some courses offered at the University of Michigan are combined with Social Work, which means Social Work has a course number associated with the class for which you can enroll. These courses have now been added to the Fall 2009 Class Schedule. There are no such offerings for the Spring/Summer term. However you can still take other graduate level courses outside of the School of Social Work even if they are not combined. Some that may be of interest to you can be found in the Outside Class Listings section.
This program funds spring/summer research for PhD students working with Social Work Faculty. Professor Larry M. Gant is quoted in the New York Times on Detroit’s struggling nonprofit organizations in the article "As Detroit Struggles, Foundations Shift Mission."
Mini courses are intensive courses designed to address advanced practice skills. These courses focus on best practices. The SW 790 course sections focus on clinical skills and the SW 799 sections focus on macro skills. The course sections are 1 credit hour for elective credit only. These are offered at various dates and times throughout the semesters and are noted in the Schedule of Classes on the SW web site and on Wolverine Access.
This elective course is designed to provide opportunities for social work students in advanced field placements to engage in integrative learning, peer consultation and professional eportfolio development activities. This seminar is open to all students in advanced methods and practice areas and allows them to process field related experiences in a safe milieu. It is a one credit elective that must be taken concurrently with SW 691.
