SIMS Medal Award--Due Friday, April 10, 2009
Posted: March 25, 2009
The Judith and Howard Sims Medal annually recognizes an outstanding paper or project by a graduate student which illuminates or improves the interactive effects of multiple environments—home, neighborhood, school, and workplace—on the functioning of the family. The Sims Medal includes an actual medal and a monetary award of $ 5,000 made possible by an endowment established by Judith and Howard Sims, both graduates of the University of Michigan.
Each nomination packet should include three copies of the paper or project description, as well as the nomination form with:
(1) Student name, academic affiliation, mailing address, and telephone number;
(2) Summary of contents; and
(3) Statement of consistency with award purposes and quality of contribution.
Nominations for the Sims medal are invited from faculty members from the Schools of Architecture and Urban Planning, Business Administration, Education, Social Work, and the Department of Psychology. For the 2009 award, nominated papers or projects must have a 2007 or 2008 completion date.
The Sims Medal Award Committee evaluates the nominations and selects a winner. The Committee cannot assume responsibility for materials lost in the mail or for their return without a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Please submit clear copies of papers or project descriptions, and do not submit originals or irreplaceable materials.
The deadline for receipt of nominations is Friday, April 10, 2009.
