Job Opening: Transportation for America Organizer

The Transportation for America Campaign is seeking an Organizer to work with a national coalition of prominent developers, real estate developers and housing advocates working to reform federal transportation policy.
This organizer will work directly with developers and housing advocates across the country to engage in federal policy advocacy. This position will work directly with prominent business and advocacy thinkers in the real estate development community, specifically with leaders in sustainable, urban infill, and transit oriented developments. Political organizing experience is a must.

-Work with prominent thinkers in the real estate development sector on outreach and engagement with the development and housing community on transportation issues
-Build internal systems to support the new coalition of developers and real estate investors
-Assist with outreach meetings and conference sessions to engage constituents and organizations in the campaign
-Engage coalition partners in advocacy and media efforts
-Generate and maintain simple website for outreach to developers
-General administrative tasks including mailing, email advocacy, event planning, database management, etc and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: The candidate should have a strong interest in political organizing, transportation issues, real estate development, or related areas. Candidates should have minimum of two years experience in political organizing, and a strong interest in transportation or development issues. Campaign experience is a must. This position requires a self‐motivated and detail‐oriented person with excellent organizational skills. The candidate must have good communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Candidates must have exemplary research and writing skills, and an ability to synthesize diverse material so that it is understandable to a lay audience. The
candidate should be highly computer literate with specific experience in website maintenance, web research, database management, and using the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of InDesign or graphics software, html, css, Joomla! and/or other open source web interfaces are a definite plus.
COMPENSATION: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
