To learn about global social work opportunities, please visit:
http://www.ssw.umich.edu/public/OGA/

You will find a comprehensive step-by-step guide on securing a global social work opportunity on our website. There is also a helpful FAQ section and resources that discuss the difference between Field and Special Studies. You can also email ssw.oga@umich.edu or call 734-936-1964 on Mon, Wed, and Thurs.

Advanced Standing and 16-month students must be enrolled in field instruction during the Fall Term of their admit year to be eligible for an international field placement. 20-month students are not eligible field credit because they are not enrolled during Spring/Summer Term. 20-month students are eligible for Special Studies credit for any research based on international work.

The costs involved are different for each placement and dependent on your length of stay. The range can span from $4500 - $9800 for a 8-12 week stay. Please note that if you are a 16-month student or an Advanced Standing student, you will also be paying for Spring/Summer tuition on top of expenses for your global social work experience.
