Make a Difference Day Event
Posted: October 15, 2009
In 2008, three million people in the United States volunteered to serve others on this special day. This year, the Community Based Initiatives (CBI) students will be visiting the older adult clients of LA SED (Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development) located in Southwest Detroit to serve them lunch, facilitate a creative arts activity, and listen to their oral histories. On Saturday, October 24th we will depart from the SSW at 10am and return by 3pm.
There are still a few slots for Ph.D. students to participate in this activity. Speaking Spanish is a plus, but not required. If you are interested, please contact Bill Vanderwill (firstname.lastname@example.org) in the OFI and let him know if you will need van transportation from Ann Arbor or will meet the group in Detroit.
