Social Work Library Updates

Update on Social Work Library Closing
You may have noticed fewer books on the Social Work Library shelves. Books are being moved to various locations, primarily Hatcher Graduate Library and Public Health. Consult Mirlyn, the library catalog for the latest location. You can still have items delivered to this library from other locations until the end of this term. To do this, use the “get this” button, to the right of the call number of the book. You will be able to select any library listed as a delivery location and pick up the book at the circulation desk at the library of your choice.
If you can’t find a book or journal on the library shelves please ask at the desk and library staff will help you find what you need.

The University Library will be offering a fantastic opportunity to purchase books that have been removed from the Social Work Library. Thousands of books from the Social Work Library, the U-M Press and other library collections will be on sale at very low prices. Stock up on your professional reading!
December 8 and 9, from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm
Hatcher Graduate Library Gallery (Room 100 on the first floor, to the left of the Diag entrance)
Hard back editions will be $1.00, paperbacks, $0.50. Many of the books are relatively new!
New APA Style Manual
The latest edition of the American Psychological Association Style Manual was released this summer and is now available at the Social Work Library and several other libraries. This manual is considered the definitive source for standardizing writing in the behavioral and social sciences. There are several errors in this latest manual, however. The library will be replacing the manuals with errors with newer, corrected issues but until then corrections are available online here. See the library catalog for the location of one of these manuals nearest you, http://tinyurl.com/MirlynAPA.
Social Work Library Copiers
Soon all library copiers will no longer use a special copy card but will accept your University MCard. When this change takes place the price will be only six cents per page and will be charged to your printing allocation automatically from you MCard. The Social Work Library still accepts the old copy cards but please beware, funds from the old cards cannot be transferred to your MCards so add only the amount of money you feel you need for the short term.
If you don’t have an MCard guest MCards are available in two, five and ten dollar amounts at the main circulation desks at the Hatcher; Shapiro; Taubman Medical; and Art, Architecture and Engineering Libraries.
Social Work Library Website
The Social Work Library website will still be available after the library closes at the end of this term. Take advantage of this site for help navigating the library changes. http://www.lib.umich.edu/social-work-library
Did you know you can now access the DSM-IV-TR directly online? Search the manual by selecting “Advanced Search” at the top of the page. Once on the advanced search page, click on the “Select None” button then mark the check box next to the title Diagnostic and Statistical Manual – Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR, 2000) and enter your terms in the search box.
If you need any assistance with library resources or have research questions please feel free to contact Sally Haines (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Sue Wortman – (email@example.com) for help or to set up an appointment.
