The National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC) is looking to hire full-time and part-time social workers. These opportunities are well suited for recent grads and current social work students.
Full-time positions are open to current MSW students and MSW graduates. Part-time positions are open for current doctoral (Ph.D.) and Masters (MSW) students.

The National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC) is a network of 16 eminent academic medical centers with the goal of building and integrating the clinical expertise, organizational structure, partners, information technology, and funding to form comprehensive depression centers. The mission of the network is "to improve the quality, effectiveness, and availability of depression and bipolar illness diagnosis, treatment and prevention so people can live better lives." (www.nndc.org) The network concept emerged from an Initial Organizing Meeting held on April 20, 2007 when 14 institutions met at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Depression Center. Their efforts culminated on October 24, 2008 when 16 institutions signed and adopted the NNDC Charter as dues paying member institutions.
The network is embarking on initiatives / projects in clinical and care management guidelines, education & outreach programs and informing the public discourse, collaborative research support, and public policy partnerships in the field of mood disorders. Projects will be in the field of mood disorders (depression, bipolar illness and associated mood disorders) and involve work as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. (Please note: positions do not involve direct individual clinical work.)
The NNDC is looking to hire full-time and part-time social workers. Expected work hours for part-time positions would be 15-20 hrs/wk during fall & winter terms and 40 hrs/wk during spring/summer. Pay commensurate to relevant experience and educational qualifications. Full-time positions are open to current MSW students and MSW graduates (including those expecting to graduate in April or August 2009). Part-time positions are open for current doctoral (Ph.D.) and masters (MSW) students. Positions are based out of East Medical campus in Ann Arbor with flexible start dates.
The positions entail working successfully with individuals with diverse personalities and work styles as well as organizations with distinct organizational cultures. Selected candidates are expected to be self-aware, cognizant of the role of privilege and oppression in social systems and to abide by the NASW Code of Conduct. Ideal candidates for these positions will be entrepreneurial, creative, diligent and possess a strong work ethic along with a willingness to take initiative and work semi-independently to lead and / or supervise projects. Ability to innovate and prioritize will be an asset as will curiosity, openness to new ideas, and good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively facilitate discussions in groups desired.
