The Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program has an opening for a Research Associate to perform project research tasks for an emergency medicine physician working on various health services research projects. The primary project for the associate is a community-based qualitative research project involving both semi-structured interviews and focus groups of Muslim Americans aimed at understanding healthcare values and cultural barriers and ethical dilemmas in the clinical arena.

The project is in its second phase which involves focus groups. The associate will serve in the capacity of a data analyst helping guide the project through data collection, coding and analysis. The associate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team directly underneath the PI and project manager.
The candidate will receive hands-on research mentoring, methodologic training and will be leading specific manuscript and presentation development.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in healthcare research and be mature, trustworthy and have the ability to work independently. A hard working and conscientious applicant who is detail oriented and reliable is a must. Preference for is for graduate students. The following skill sets are necessary- experience with qualitative data collection and analysis, ability to travel within Greater Detroit, strong communication and writing skills, and personable. Persons with background working with Muslim and/or Arabs or Arabic language skills is also preferred.
