Work-Study Research Assistant Needed for SSW Professor

Posted: September 15, 2010

Professor Beth Reed is seeking a work-study Research Assistant emphasizing administrative coordination and supervision of undergraduate students for a research project titled: Addressing both Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse: Integrating Approaches in Contested Spaces.

The work-study student will be exposed to a range of different types of research tasks and can participate and take some leadership in these, in addition to the administrative duties. Please send a resume and statement of interest and background to Beth Glover Reed, bgr@umich.edu.

The study is about how co-occurring domestic violence/intimate partner violence(IPV) and problems with alcohol and other drugs (AOD) are being addressed in a coordinated way. This is an organization-level and field-level study, with no contact with people who are receiving services from these programs.

We are interested in general IPV and AOD services ONLY as the contexts within which efforts at jointness are occurring. In some instances, we may find a larger multi-service organization that is including attention to both AOD and DV. Then we would be interested in how they connect across these components.
