MSA Focus Group Meetings

Posted: January 24, 2011

Students with disabilities deserve an experience at the University that is accommodating and supportive of their unique abilities and needs. Share your experiences and ideas at one of our focus groups to help create a more inclusive, supportive campus for yourself and others with disabilities:

Tuesday, January 25: 6:30-7:30PM
Wednesday, January 26: 6-7PM
Thursday, January 27: 7:30-8:30PM

All focus groups held in the MSA Offices (third floor of the Union.) Email mitchc@umich.edu to confirm your attendance. Refreshments provided.

Our goal is to improve the experience for students with disabilities through:
1) Assessing campus climate, key areas for improvement, and support mechanisms through a survey,
2) Educating the campus community on issues facing students with disabilities, and
3) Advocating based on the issues identified.

The disabilities committee of the Michigan Student Assembly is working to assess how ‘U’ departments, students, faculty, and staff can improve the experience of students with disabilities. Over the course of the semester, we will be conducting a survey of students to identify specific potential improvements as well as things that are working well for students. Using the data we generate, we will advocate for changes to the appropriate departments. Interested in getting involved in the ‘You Deserve Better’ project? Email us!
