The Students of Color in Public Policy invite you to a special student-led… DIVERSITY TALKS: A SEMINAR SERIES ON POLICY AND RACE / Topic: Barriers to Transfer for Latino Community College Students

Guest Student Speakers: Judy De La O – M.A. Higher Education and Dorothy Pirtle – Ford School M.P.P. Candidate

De La O and Pirtle’s academic interests include improving access, retention and transfer success rates for minority community college students. Currently the two scholars are collaborating with Anabel Paez (Ford School MPP Candidate) to establish a nonprofit organization that will provide first generation, low income, community college students of color with academic advising.

At this month’s Diversity Talks, De La O and Pirtle will be providing a national overview of barriers to transfer for Latino Community College students.

“Diversity Talks: A Seminar Series on Policy and Race” is sponsored by the Students of Color in Public Policy (SCPP), with funding support from the Center for Public Policy in Diverse Societies of the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan.
