Are you going to be in Ann Arbor next month? Do you have a car? Are you interested in making a little extra money?
On Mother’s Day weekend (May 7-9), driving assistance is needed for an older woman who is coming from Chicago to visit her mother in Plymouth. She will be arriving at the Ann Arbor train depot, and will need rides from there to her hotel, her mother’s assisted-living facility, and her sister’s home, all in Plymouth. She has had difficulty with cabs in the past, and would like a reliable student to provide her transportation. She will pay for gas and a fee for service.

Family Service & Children's Aid has an opening for a Foster Care Case Manager. This position would require maintaining a caseload of children placed in the agency's foster care program, and providing a wide range of case management and treatment services.

Southwest Solutions will have 3-4 positions available this summer (8 weeks long) for graduate level students who would be interested in a community mapping project. These students would be supervising a small team of youth employees who are going to be interviewing local business owners, community members, about Detroit resources, needs, etc.

Spring/Summer term 2011 Social Work classes begin on May 9.
The University academic calendar has classes beginning May 3; however, please note that Social Work has its own academic calendar. Field Instruction, for many students, will begin on May 3 as noted on the SW academic calendar.
If you are enrolled in a non-SW class follow the calendar of the appropriate School if the course is offered by Dentistry, Law, Medical, Ross Business; otherwise, follow the University Calendar. When in doubt, contact the School or College offering the course.
Kennedy Care is currently seeking a Production Assistant, who will help their current team with quality assurance testing and user experience deliverables needed to redesign their social networking site: www.thecaringspace.com.
The Production Assistant will update their blog, reasearch and connect with other long-term care sites, and write on behalf of their home health agency. It is preferred that candidates only apply if they have training in user experience, and are passionate about long-term care.

All incoming students should plan to attend one of these Web-based sessions. Applicants are encouraged to attend as well. Registration required by clicking on one of the above links.
The session will walk admitted students through the process of applying for a field placement. Presenters will also discuss how to effectively utilize the Career Center in preparing field application materials. The last 30 minutes of the session will discuss specific information for students planning to apply for a school placement. Applications are due May 13th for students beginning field in the fall.
