Attn: August 2012 MSW Degree Candidates! Please read & respond by Monday, June 4th.
The Graduation Planning Committee would like your input in suggesting faculty participants for the following roles in our July 28th SSW graduation ceremony.
• Marshals: coordinate the ceremony activities on the day of graduation
• Readers: read individual names of graduates as they cross stage
• Hooders: place ceremonial Masters hood over graduates head before they cross stage
You do not need to specify roles - just names of the faculty you would like to see participate. The Graduation Committee will invite and assign the specific roles to those selected.

The Summer Graduation Planning Committee is accepting musical/verbal performance submissions by a graduating student or a small group of graduating students for possible inclusion in the SSW July Commencement. All performance submissions will be considered.
The Committee may select up to one performer, or may not choose any of the submissions. This opportunity is open to SSW students who expect to complete their MSW degree requirements in good academic standing and plan to attend the ceremony on July 28th.

An integral part of the SSW commencement ceremony is the opportunity for one or two of our MSW degree candidates to speak. This opportunity is open to SSW students who expect to complete their MSW degree requirements at the end of spring/summer term 2012, are in good academic standing, and plan to attend the ceremony on July 28th.
Entries must include items #1 & 2 below:
- Typed speech (4-5 minutes in length) which reflects the occasion and academic experiences unique to the SSW. Be sure to include your full name, email address & phone number on your speech.
- Resume
- Audiocassette tape, MP3, or CD of author reading the speech (optional).
Submit entry via email to Michelle Gorton in the Office of Student Services, 1748 SSWB.
Entry Deadline: Monday, June 4th
The Graduation Planning Committee is looking for 4 - 5 MSW students graduating in August 2012 to join the committee.
We are having our first meeting on Tuesday, May 15 from 12 – 1 PM in Room 1794 SSWB. If you would like to join, please reply to Michelle Gorton and confirm your availability.

We are requesting suggestions for Keynote Speaker for the upcoming July 28, 2012 SSW Commencement ceremony.
Individuals should be 1) respected human service professionals and 2) reside within the state of Michigan, preferably southeast Michigan.
Note that funds are not available, although a small honorarium may be given.
If you plan to graduate this summer, please submit your suggestions by Friday, May 18th to: mtgorton@umich.edu
