The American Library Association

The American Library Association (ALA), the oldest, largest organization of its kind worldwide, seeks to promote the best library and information service possible to the public, as well as provide resources and support for library and information professionals. ALA advocates for freedom of speech, access, library funding, and related issues. ALA also provides its members with professional enrichment through conferences and other events. Resources on education and careers as well as awards and scholarships are made available to current and future information professionals through ALA, as well.
