Summer Internship
As a requirement for the Masters of Science in Information (MSI) at the University of Michigan’s School of Information it is necessary to obtain 6 practical engagement points (PEP). This is equivalent to 360 hours of work. Some students earn these points via a combination of coursework with PEP components and small internships throughout the academic year. Others, like myself, earn the majority or all of the PEP points through a lengthy summer internship. This summer I interned at the Smithsonian Institution, National Museum of American History Archives Center. I worked on average forty hours a week for ten weeks - an experience of roughly 390-400 hours.
