Interns Get a Company Car???
Was just looking on Career Center Connector and found a sales intern position that includes a company car. They will also set you up with corporate sponsored housing - this sound great.
When you are looking into internships and jobs, be sure to take into account other costs associated with the job. Housing, transportation, etc. Especially if you are taking an unpaid position, as those costs can mount pretty quickly when you don't have a paycheck to defray them...
When I was working with the Public Defender Service in Washington DC there was a colleague of mine who was working a part-time job after hours in order to defray the cost of living while doing an unpaid gig. While it would definitely be a bummer to do a full-time internship and work after that, those are investments that will hopefully pay off.

Government Fair - Recap
The Government (also Not-for-Profit Career Fair) Career Fair was yesterday. I hope it was helpful to those in attendance. Yes, the government is hiring, especially to fill what are called "Mission-Critical Occuptions" or MCOs.
If interested in pursuing a position with the Federal Government visit this site:
This site, managed the the non-profit Partnership for Public Service is a great resource if you are unsure about or confused by the Federal Job search process...check it out!
Best,
Neil

Indeed.com... Job/Internship Search Candy
My internship/job search treat... just in time for Valentine's Day.
A new resource recently brought to my attention is Indeed. I love this site!
Indeed.com is great because it is sort of like the Google of internship/job searching. You can type in the 'What' (company, type of opportunity, etc.) and the 'Where' (city, state, country, etc.) and Indeed will search all available postings on multiple job posting websites. The site also has helpful forums and information on salaries and job trends.
Check it out! I've been playing with it all afternoon and I've found some really interesting opportunities.

Happy hunting,

Non-Profit Career Expo and Government Fair Tomorrow!
This is an exciting week for events... tomorrow is both the Non-Profit Career Expo and the Government Career Fair. Both fairs will be in the Michigan Union from 2-6pm (Tuesday, February 10th).
If you click on the links above, you can see a list of tips for the fair and also see a list of participating organizations.
I think these fairs are great opportunities to connect with that other, non-"corporate" side of career opportunities. You can find organizations offering internships, full-time jobs, and volunteer opportunities, so there is something for everyone! And don't forget about the MPowered Career Fair on Wednesday... (see previous entry).
Happy fair-going,
Alex R

Small Business Career Fair
Hey Guys!
The Small Business Career Fair is next week (Wednesday 2/11) at the Dude/Pierpont from 11-4. This fair is only available to companies with less than 50 employees, which are often a great fit for that type of person who isn't into the mega-company scene.
Information for the fair is on the MPowered site - see you there!
