Salary from £32,148 pa incl. to £38,887 pa incl.
Initially fixed term for 1 year and to ideally commence in March 2013
The Civil Society and Human Security Research Unit at the LSE is pleased to invite applications to the above post which will contribute to the Research Programme Security in Transition: An Interdisciplinary Investigation into the Security Gap, funded by the European Research Council.
You will coordinate and carry our research on different aspects of the security gap in the context of the Middle East, with a focus on Syria. This will include a dialogue with critical intellectuals throughout the region. You will work closely with the principal investigator, Professor Mary Kaldor.
You should have a PhD, or be close to submission, in Middle East studies, security studies, or another relevant field. You should have a strong analytical background, demonstrating the ability to coordinate and design appropriate projects and methods of research; as well the ability to develop a publishing record that furthers the goals and profile of the programme. You should also possess a working knowledge of Arabic, and good communication skills.
You will be expected to play an active intellectual role in research programme and the life of the Civil Society and Human Security Research Unit, including collaborating with our regional partners and networks in the Middle East, research programmes and units at the LSE and beyond.
