Resources for Chemistry and Molecular Biology
Here are just a few new and different resources available free on the web for these topics.
Databases
- Chemfinder: http://chemfinder.cambridgesoft.com/result.asp
- ChemExper Chemical Directory: http://www.chemexper.com/
This database finds chemical suppliers and physical characteristics by name, molecular formula or cas number. - eMolecules (formerly known as Chmoogle):
http://www.chmoogle.com/
A similar type of search, but allows you to search by chemical structure or formula. In their words, "Ready for a genuine cheminformatics system that searches for molecules using chemical structure? With eMolecules, just draw your chemical structure with your favorite molecule editor, then click "Go", and instantly search millions of molecules from across the Web and from chemical suppliers worldwide."
E-Books
- NIST Chemistry WebBook: NIST Standard Reference Database Number 69, June 2005 Release: http://webbook.nist.gov/chemistry/
- Molecular Imaging and Contrast Agent Database (MICAD)
Bethesda (MD): National Library of Medicine (US), NCBI; 2004-2005:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/bv.fcgi?call=bv.View..ShowTOC&rid=micad.TOC
"This searchable database includes, but is not limited to, in vivo molecular imaging and contrast agents for positron emission tomography (PET), single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT), optical imaging, planar radiography, and planar gamma imaging." - Molecular Biology Web Book: http://www.web-books.com/MoBio/
