MD July 15 Update

I am writing slightly early as the 15th is my 19th birthday. A turning point in my life: legality in Canada. Anyway I just found out that I will be moving to AA around Aug. 24th so I was wondering when we could actually start the physical preparations for welcome week? (This is mostly directed towards Vickie) I will continue brainstorming plans to get the DEX name out, we should have a good spot on the Diag for Festifall. Any suggestions about how to get a good head start on DEX preparation before school gets busy?

For a social event, on Sunday January 17th U of M is playing UCONN in basketball. Assuming we are decent this year it will be a pretty good game so maybe we could reserve those long tables in the back of Buffalo Wild Wings and watch the game with everyone. As far as the meal, I would need to talk to Shane about funding. Maybe we could do something where we pay for $6 of everyones meal, or we just order a ton of different types of wings and pay for the whole meal, or we don't pay at all. Just throwing around some ideas.

Happy early birthday!
In response to your question regarding planning for welcome week, we can start ASAP. The sooner the better before everyone gets into their welcome week 'festivities'. I'll be moving in sometime that week as well but you and Kathleen are in charge! You can initiate and delegate and utilize a committee if necessary. You can talk to Alex about things he and Marissa did last year, but here's some things we need:

- table tents. You can modify the one we used last year (ask Alex)
- 3-fold poster - this should be all set (Marissa made one last year). Make sure you have this!
- sign up sheets
- flyers, this is important. start making them and emailing them around for feedback. we need DEX to be clear, with specific dates and times (as many as possible).
- also need quarter sheets (mini versions of the flyers). i'm thinking info on front, calendar on back, or something like that. be creative
- facebook recruiting
- recruiting on UM's online resources, like the UM Events calendar, etc
- need candy or something else to pass out at our table for festifall
- need music at Festifall
- more Festifall materials: pens, TAPE (like masking tape), decorations, old medals & plaques
- chalk!

I like the idea about BDubs, but definitely check with Nate about funding! We won't have dues in by then so we'll be a little tight on money since we have to also pay for flyers.
