Entrepreneurship and risk

Do I have to take a risk to become a successful entrepreneur?

I keep hearing about risk being a key to success. Do it while you're young, they say. Go out on a limb. Find an idea and fall in love with it, then take a risk to make it work. But is that how it works? Do I have to take a risk to become a successful entrepreneur?

The College of Engineering entrepreneurial push

Michigan Engineering has made a worldwide name for itself in education, research and team projects. Now it's making a push to encourage entrepreneurship -- we have the groundwork; we need the know-how, guidance and resources to really get things rolling.

Check out MPowered Entrepreneurship, an organization that focuses on fostering entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan. Its mission is to light a fire under students, spurring them to explore the opportunities of entrepreneurship through exposure to active entrepreneurs, orientation towards innovation-by-collaboration and support as they begin their own ventures.

A lot of folks are excited about this. You'll be hearing more about it in the coming weeks.
