New North Quad Design

Last week the pipes burst in the Frieze Building, according to the Daily and this Friday the Regents are voting on the new design for North Quad, the dorm/academic building which will take its place. The budget for the new building will increase $38 million dollars to $175 million due to the delay, additional architectural fees and "increased quality of the building design and materials, including elements such as the pitched roof, full basement, increased quantity of steel, concrete and exterior wall area, and enhanced building materials."

Next Tuesday, December 19, Jim Kosteva, University Planner Sue Gott, and construction manager Matt Fuller will be holding a meeting in the Michigan Room at the Michigan League from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM for an update and discussion on the design for the North Quad facility and construction activities and logistics anticipated in connection with the demolition of the Frieze Building and the subsequent construction of the new building.
