Episode #7 - Once around the park, James!
Well, technically, it's twice around the park, as I walked around my block twice recording this podcast. Still, the name sounds good enough.
Podcast #7A day past my regularly planned post time, but that was due to Memorial Day and the wife's foot injury. With any luck, we'll be back on track for next week.

No podcast yet
Well, I was going to edit the podcast Monday night, but that was the Heroes season finale. So I tried for Tuesday, but the wife and I ended up watching a movie we rented, Underworld: Evolution. It wasn't that bad of a movie - a bit over the top with the gruesome deaths in spots, but a decent way to kill a couple of hours.
So I planned on getting the editing done first thing this morning, but when I went to fire up the iRiver to tansfer the recording, I found out the battery had died, and I didn't have any extra AAs in the house! So it looks like I'll be making a battery run after work. Fun. I'm shooting for getting it up late tonight.

New logo-ification!
To the right, you can see the new logo / artwork for Hello From Michigan. It's an evening's worth of tinkering, and a far cry from my original idea of a postcard-looking image with lots of photos of famous Michigan landmarks and products. This design is a lot cleaner and should look much better at small size. I did find some other interesting art while seaching around, though, and I'll try to put it to use somewhere.

Heh...
So while checking the iTunes Music Store last night to see if the podcast was listed yet, I found a musician who has written an album of Michigan-themed songs... and his album cover is the artwork I nicked from a Google search as a placeholder for this site / podcast.
Oops.
Guess I'll be moving on the re-design of my art / logo sooner rather than later. Luckily, I figured out how to do it last night, so something new in the album art should be up tonight.

Submitted to iTunes
I finally submitted the podcast to iTunes Music Store for listing in their podcast directory. It might show up in a few days. In the meantime, I have to dig around and find out how to fill in all the configuration bits that are missing - like, album artwork for the podcast entry in the iTS. It's all about the learning, ya know...
Oh, and speaking of album art, I gotta say this publicly so someone can hold me to it - I need to work on a better logo. The one I have now is just something I grabbed out of a Google search to use for temporarily. Now that I'm moving to the Big Time (tm), I suppose I oughta something better.

Episode #5 - Walking Tour
Uploaded last night, and now I finally get a minute to make the entry and update the feed. Sorry about the amount of loud traffic in the podcast, but you gets what you get when you walk by a road :)
I think I'll just be sitting down and playing catch-up with the next podcast, explaining things I've done and seen up to this point. San has asked what I use to record my podcast, so I'll explain that.
I'm also going to look into getting this podcast officially posted to iTunes. Well, that, and maybe figure out how to pretty up this page a bit.

Almost there
It's currently 1 am, and the podcast is mixing down in preparation for upload. I'm gonna upload it, then edit the feed tomorrow. So, no podcat now, but it will be t here tomorrow. In the meantime, you can check out the raw, unedited photos I shot for the podcast at Flickr:

Episode 4
Okay, this one isn't all that pretty, but at least it's out there. 15 minutes of talk and kids on the playground. Mind the shrieks.
Also, I'm working on Flickr linking for pictures I use in the podcast. Since my camera has decided it doesn't want to focus properly any longer, this isn't the most pressing concern. Also, the fact that I managed to blow away the originals that I had been using is a bit of a problem. At any rate, here's the images that I used in podcast3, as 300x300 iPod-ready shots:
Also, I'll be looking into a proper iTunes subscribe link, once I get the last fiddly bits of file configging under my belt.
