Extra Credit Lectures

One of my teachers is really big in getting involved on campus and finding out as much about your school as possible so she gives us extra credit for going to a lot of informational lectures (like the kind that freshman go to even though we are juniors and seniors) but as long as they fit into my schedule, I usually go to them because they are an easy couple of points (and this class is really hard).
So the last one that I went to was about elearning. It was basically a speaker from the school telling us about all of the online training courses that are offered through our school. I actually did learn something that I didn't know before and may participate in. I thought online classes were just for people who weren't enrolled in school full time or for those who took them over the summer. But you can take online classes whenever and at your own convenience. SO I think that maybe next semester I might start one of the nine week online courses about a week or two before Christmas break and then I have the four weeks during break when I don't have any other classes to worry about so I can focus on it and then finish up a week or so after break. It seems like a great and easy way to get in another 2 or 3 credits and technically I could take them back to back all year. There are no time obligations so it is really nice that I can do them whenever.
A few of them are actually really cool. Like the speech classes you watch these online training videos and you can learn the right way to make a speech and then you fill out the ‘workbooks' online and when you are done you can just tape yourself making your own speeches and hand them in to be graded. It is really great that you never once have to step foot in a classroom and at the same time you still get such a hands on experience.
So while a lot of these lectures are boring and definitely made for the incoming or new freshman, some of them really are helpful and I would definitely advise you to check out what they are all about and find a few that may interest you or help you get your classes done more efficiently.
