LEARNING MORE ABOUT PERROS

I absolutely love the internet with all the resources that are available about everything. For instance, recently I decided that I was going to get a dog and so I wanted to find out more information about different breeds of dogs and how they interact with people and other pets. I figured there must be some rhyme or reason to choosing the right dog and I was able to access all the information that I wanted online, but it took a little help, because the best and most comprehensive site about dogs that I could found was called races of dogs. It was honestly a Spanish site and although it was done in Spanish, I did know that perros meant dogs in Spanish so I really wanted to be able to read their site. Originally I thought that I was going to have to cut and paste this site into a translation service.

The page read:

Then I realized that Google actually offered me the opportunity to translate this item to English and all I had to do was request to have the page translated, and I could simply read it. In English it said:

RACES OF DOGS

This site was created by dog lovers and for all people interested in learning more about man's best friend. Everyone has different requirements for a pet, and this site will help you find out all the information you will need when choosing the perfect pet for you and your family. Remember there are not bad dogs and good dogs, it is truly just about choosing the one that is right for you and your environment.

Puppies and College Kids

Last year I was looking into transferring schools for my major so I didn't really think about where I would live the next year. But then I decided to stay and everyone around me had already signed a lease. So I sent out an email to the girls in my sorority and people I know to see if anyone needed an extra roommate and thankfully three girls in kappa delta emailed me back saying that they had just signed a lease and were looking for a 4th roommate. It seemed perfect to me, I had seen pictures of the house on the website online and the three other girls were the same year in school as me and were involved in the same activities so it sounded like a great idea. The only thing was, I really wanted to get a puppy and had expected to do that when I transferred that nest year, but when I decided to stay I didn't even think about the fact that we might end up getting a house that didn't allow pets.
So the day I went to the house to look around and sign the lease I was reading it over and tears just started pouring down my face. I saw that pets weren't allowed and I was seriously heartbroken. I didn't think I would be as sad as I was but there I was standing there crying on the lease. The landlord just went on and on about how college kids aren't good at taking care of a puppy or any animal for that matter. I was so offended. I would be great at taking care of a puppy. Since my parents were divorced I spent a lot of time cleaning up and making sure everything was on track and helping out with my brothers and sisters, including being the sole caregiver of our dog. I was so hurt when the landlord talked about how irresponsible college kids were and I just remember being furious thinking that he doesn't know me and shouldn't make assumptions. I almost didn't sign the lease because I was so upset.
Thankfully my house for next year allows puppies and we have a fenced in yard and I have 4 other roommates that love dogs and are so eager to help out. We seriously can't wait for our new pup and even the responsibilities that come with him.

Pet meds

My buddy just got a new dog and I am so excited to spend time with it. It's the coolest little blond lab puppy with those big beautiful eyes you see on all of the dog posters in office buildings. I went with him to pick out the dog and we looked at a bunch of dogs. It was at the shelter right here in town and I was surprised at first to see how many dogs they had and to hear how many of them were just plain stray dogs. We had this huge long checklist to pick out the perfect dog and the list was a little bit to picky in places, but I think that it came out with the right dog. We had it narrowed down to bugsy, this dog, and another puppy but since Bugsy is a lab we just had to get him. He is only about six months old so he is really small and really too cute for his own darn good. I had to go out today and get him his pet meds from the store to keep his immune system strong and to keep him from getting fleas since it is now spring and he's outside as much as we are, which is all day long. That's one thing that has surprised me the most about him so far, since I have never had a pet before, is that he has to take a lot of pet meds and it is really hard to give them to him. I mean it's not the hardest thing in the world, but I just imagine what it's going to be like to give them to him when he is a two years old and a monstrous beast, like the vet said he would be. Right now we are all in that period where we just faun over him and he is just getting used to us. Apparently he had a rough beginning, but he has taken to us pretty quickly from what I can tell, but like I said I don't know much about dogs. Now our big task, to keep our security deposit in this apartment, we need to train him. Now that classes are over we will plenty of time to whip him, not literally, in to shape. I am just so happy that I have finally gotten a pet. I have always wanted a dog and now I have one on my lap.
