Use Safari E-Books for Help with PowerPoint and Excel

Need help with PowerPoint and Excel? The Kresge Library has a great resource for you. Safari Tech Books Online is a fully-searchable collection of electronic books in computer science, information technology, and related fields.

Safari titles cover diverse topics including programming languages, information technology management, operating systems, software applications, "hacks", and business titles. This resource includes books from 2004 to the present from such leading presses as O'Reilly and Pearson Technology Group (which includes Addison-Wesley, Financial Times Prentice Hall, Cisco Press, New Riders, Peachpit Press, Que, Sams, etc.) To see other e-book packages, view the e-book page.

Library Hours and Reference Service for the Winter Break

The Kresge Library is shifting into end of term and winter break mode. The library will close at 5pm on Friday 12/22 for the winter break and will reopen at 7:30am on Tuesday 1/2. The library hours for the remainder of the term are as follows:

  • Friday 12/15: 7:30am - Midnight
  • Saturday 12/16: 10am - Midnight
  • Sunday 12/17: 10am-2am
  • Monday 12/18: 7:30am-2am
  • Tuesday 12/19 - Thursday 12/21: 7:30-Midnight
  • Friday 12/22: 8am - 5pm

Reference Services

During the week of 12/18-12/22 and on 1/2-1/3, the Reference Desk and the Kresge 'Ask Us Live' IM service will be closed. If you have a question during this time, you can send it via the Contact Us page. Librarians will be checking email daily and respond to your questions in a timely manner.

The Reference Desk and IM Reference service will reopen on Thursday, January 4th.

New Resource: BNA Tax Management Library

The Library is pleased to annouce the addition of BNA Tax Management Library to the suite of resources offered to the Ross School of Business.

The BNA (Bureau of National Affairs) Tax Management Library offers online journals, reports and documents to support studies in accounting and tax planning at the federal, state and international levels. The resources that we have access to are in two areas: Federal/Foreign Tax Library and the State Tax Library. Both of these resources include: tax analysis, news, journals, reports, commentary, portfolios, sources and practice tools. Periodical titles in this package include: Weekly Report, Tax Practice Bulletin; Real Estate Journal; Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal; and Weekly State Tax Report. World Travel Organization Book Collection

We have started to receive titles as a despository library of the World Travel Organization. As one of six despository libraries in the United States, we receive all the books that they publish every year. The first books just arrived and will soon be in the catalog. These titles include: Tourism Market Trends - World Overview 2005; Thailand - The Asia and the Pacific Intra-regional Outbound Series & Measuring the Economic Importance of the Meetings Industry: Developing a Tourism Satellite Account.

All these items will be available via the library catalog.
